This 1,650 S.F. lakefront home was designed with a budget of only $160,000.00 So it was a design challenge from the beginning. I wanted to keep the roofline simple and the footprint easy to lay out for building. This floor plan was typical of the lake home living design approach where the living room, or great room is facing the lake side with lots of glass to maximize the view from all parts of the room. This plan, and seemingly most lake home plans have an open kitchen design and modest dining/breakfast area that opens and flows right into the great room.
Here are some concept elevations that are a result of the design process for this home. It is not uncommon during the design process of a custom home that more than one elevation may be sketched out to finally arrive at the one that is used for the final design. As you can see by the two front elevation drawings, just by changing a few minor things, it really makes a big difference.
